Editor's Choice - Pathfinder Database Annual
August 22, 2010

Well, it's been a year since I launched the Pathfinder Database. In that time I feel as if the site has finally reached a point where it serves a vast variety of game styles and campaign settings. I think that the best thing to do to celebrate this milestone is to look back on all the content submitted and give an editor's opinion as to what...

How does this site work?

The Pathfinder Database is a collection of fan-created submissions for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. In order to submit content, you will need to register with the site. Once you're registered, you'll see links to content submission forms. Fill out the form that fits the content you have and send it on to the site. If your submission is compliant with our Terms of Use, you'll most likely see it on the site in a few days.

Does anyone really care about fan-created content?

There's a lot more people than you think who are interested in fan content. But don't take my word for it...

Content generated by gamers themselves has always been the most important part of the RPG hobby. - Monte Cook

What about house rules?

If the House Rule in question is a simple rewrite of an existing piece of discrete game content, you can submit it as an alternate version of that content. For example, if you don't like the way a particular feat works and think you can do better, feel free to submit your own version.

However, if you have a completely new way that a core component of the game works or if your content doesn't seamlessly bolt-on or replace content already in the game, the submission usually requires rewrites of other content in the game. Submissions that require a reader to use other submissions are more likely to get rejected. The aim of the Pathfinder Database is to publish content that is quickly accessible and applicable to anyone's game without the need to learn new game mechanics.

What do I get in return?

If you're interested in getting feedback on your content, there are various ways readers of the site can rate your content. Visitors can give an overall rating of the submission, or they can rate the submission based on criteria such as balance and clarity. If you're really into getting feedback, you can even request that your byline be linked to an email contact form.
