Tibarri

Tibarri (TUH-BAR-RE) are an ancient race of beings that trace their heritage back to lagomorphs. Eons of evolution on a world untouched by global cataclysm have led their species able to achieve sentience and resulting dominance over regions where they became the top predators. It is easy to underestimate a tibarri, as they are cunning and patient as well as spry. They are not overly curious creatures, but they do seek to learn more about the world in order to better protect themselves from the things that do threaten their existence.

Tibarri are typically nomadic people, though they can and do stay in one location for a long time if conditions are good and the land is bountiful. This doesn't mean that all tibarri embrace this lifestyle though, as there are few that find the civilized lands irresistibly tempting; the chance to be free from the constraints of the land and the chance to make a name for oneself on a grand scale beckon many tibarri. Rarer still are those that pursue the path of the adventurer.

Physical Description: Tibarri are very much humanoid shaped and very much the spitting image of a rabbit; they have ears they are able to perch in any position, a soft mix of human and rabbit facial features and layered fur over their skin. Their fur can vary in color and can be thick or thin. Though their fur covers their entire body most of them choose not to wear clothes, but when hunting, entertaining or when a formal situation arises they opt to cover themselves.

Society: Although tibarri have evolved away from being natural diggers they still very much prefer to be a subterranean people. They are natural hunter/gatherers and are very much agrarian in their culture, though they don't do too much to manipulate or seed the land to suit their need, but rather farm the natural resources available to them. Tibarri are sociable within their own circles and seek to integrate their family and friends into one large familial unit. Friendships among tibarri are made at very young ages and most often transcend into a romantic bonding that blesses their community with the joy of new life.

Tibarri don't typically mate for life, this is extremely rare among their kind and marriages are virtually unheard of. When young tibarri grow old enough to care for themselves the parents usually part and give the adolescents their blessing for a fruitful and long life. Very young tibarri found by adventurers and explorers with a kind and gentle heart will bring the youngling tibarri back to their rural or urban home and care for them, thus resulting in the rare case of a tibarri that is taught the values and ways of a mostly humanocentric culture.

Relations: Tibarri have open hearts and minds, but are fearful of change outside of what they can control. They are aware that caring, kindness and love are things that must flow from within and coax this bud to grow in the hearts of their young. However, they are quite skittish and reclusive in regard to giving their hearts to those outside of their own species. They see relations between other races as a means to an end and habitually force others outside of their own kind to sign contracts to demand respect in business or other dealings. Failure to honor the contract usually results in immediate forced expulsion from their habitat or worse depending on how bad the visitor or visitors have attempted to slight them.

Friendship with members outside of their own race always stats off as a wary and fickle thing, not even so much respect is given from the tibarri to consider the potential friend an acquaintance. Only after the potential friend has gone out on a limb to offer an olive branch, does a tibarri consider giving them the time of day. After prolonged contact between the person and the tibarri has been maintained and mutual respect is observed between the two does a tibarri consider the person an acquaintance. Only after loyalty is shown and proven countless times without ever once the tibarri suspecting an ulterior motive, does one receive the honor of being called a friend by a tibarri.

Alignment: Most tibarri are neutral in some regard and a lot of them are good hearted and caring. It is rare among their kind for them to turn away those in their community that need help for continued survival, and thus evil is mostly only a concept and a word to them. Hardly ever is a tibarri shunned, exiled or otherwise driven to vileness. A tibarri raised in civilized lands that knows cruelty, sees it in practice or experiences it firsthand are those among their kind that are the most likely to be evil.

Religion: Tibarri aren't normally pious creatures. Those that do worship choose nature or an aspect of nature to give their devotion to. Usually tibarri will give thanks for all things that make their life easier; to the land for its bounty before plucking it from the ground, to a tree before chopping it for its wood, to a source of water before taking a drink from it, etcetera. Organized religion among their kind is anathema to their way of life as they never take resources for permanent structures.

Tibarri raised in the civilized lands are more open minded about religion; they see it in practice and may choose to give homage to a deity that meets and reflects their personality and world views.

Adventurers: Adventures among the tibarri are rare, but the few that heed the call find the lifestyle to be a rich and rewarding experience. They are the ones among their kind that really feel the tug to explore the world and catalogue their experiences and treasures for the benefit and betterment of their kin. These adventurers usually have to put aside their lack of trust in other races in order to ensure their continued survival as they are keen to understand that safety lies in numbers. Those that have established themselves and have proven that they can get along on their own without the need to rely on others may strike out to seek experiences that they can handle alone, but most often these tibarri are encountered along the way in the travels of another tibarri associated with an adventuring group.
