Class Features Modifications
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Fighters with the Hit and Run variant give up proficiency with heavy armor and tower shields, even if those proficiencies came from another class. They can't gain either of these proficiencies back later by multi-classing, but they can take the individual feats if desired. Fighters must choose this class feature at their 1st fighter level.Fighters with the Hit and Run variant gain the following class feature:
Caught Unawares: At 1st level, fighters gain a +2 bonus on initiative checks. In addition, when attacking a flat-footed oponnent within 30 ft, fighters can add their DEX bouns (if any) as a competence bonus on weapon damage rolls.
Author's Note: This is taken ALMOST verbatim from "Drow of the Underdark". I understand the drow are better at speed and subterfuge than most, but I don't think that should mean other races should be excluded from taking this class feature.
