Warcaster

The nation of Brevoy is know for having many martial academies that teach skills not found anywhere else. However only a few have ever heard of the most mysterious and potentially most powerful. This mysterious academy is known only as The Crucible. There students learn the skills to combined martial prowess with arcane power. The few who survive the training are sought after by both militaries and adventurers alike and are known by the title of Warcaster.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Warcaster is proficient with simple and martial weapons. They are proficient with light and medium armor, and shields (except tower shields)

Spells: A warcaster casts arcane spells drawn from the sorcerer/wizard list. A warcaster must choose and prepare his spells ahead of time.

To learn, prepare, or cast a spell, the warcaster must have an Intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a warcaster’s spell is 10 + the spell level + the warcaster's Intelligence modifier.

A warcaster can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. His base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Warcaster Spells/Day. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high Intelligence score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells).

A warcaster may know any number of spells. He must choose and prepare his spells ahead of time by getting 8 hours of sleep and spending 1 hour studying his spellbook. While studying, the warcaster decides which spells to prepare.

Spellbook: A warcaster must study his spellbook each day to prepare his spells. He cannot prepare any spell not recorded in his spellbook, except for read magic, which all warcasters can prepare from memory.

A warcaster begins play with a spellbook containing all 0-level spells plus three 1st-level spells of his choice. The warcaster also selects a number of additional 1st-level spells equal to his Intelligence modifier to add to the spellbook. At each new warcaster level, he gains two new spells of any spell level or levels that he can cast (based on his new warcaster level) for his spellbook. At any time, a warcaster can also add spells found in other spellbooks to his own.

Armored Caster (Ex): Warcasters are trained to cast spells while wearing armor. At 1st level they can cast spells without penalty while wearing light armor. At 7th level their skill improves to be able to wear medium armor without penalty. At 14th level they learn how to cast spells without penalty while using a shield (except tower shields).
Eschew Materials: At 1st level warcasters gain Eschew Materials as a bonus feat.

Combat Casting: At 2nd level the warcaster gains Combat Casting as a bonus feat.

Channeled Spell (Sp): Once per day as a move action the warcaster can channel any touch spell that they have prepared through their weapon starting at 3rd level. This uses up the spell slot and the spell is used up regardless of whether the attack hits or not. At 6th level the warcaster can use this ability twice per day, and the ability increases by one time per day for every three warcaster levels the character gains there after.

Multistrike (Ex): At 20th level the warcaster can use a minor action to cast one spell in combination with a melee attack. They can use this ability once per day and they can cast any spell that they have prepared that day.
