Evangelist

These traveling preachers are the voice of their deity, drawing their words and abilities directly from divine inspiration. They also often server as diplomats of their faith.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An evangelist is proficient with all simple weapons, light and medium armor. Also, the favored weapons of the patron deity.

Domains: At 1st level, Evangelists choose two domains. He gains the lesser granted ability of both domains and add all the spells listed on the domain spell list to his spells known list at the appropriate levels. The evangelist never gains access to the greater domain powers, unless granted by another class. As part of his spellcasting advancement, he gains a third domain at 4th level, and another every 4 levels thereafter. When the evangelist gains a domain, he must choose one either from his deity’s list of available domains or one that does not conflict his diety’s ideals. When the evangelist chooses a new domain, he gains access to abilities from that domain as if he knew that domain from 1st level. Gained domains grant domain abilities and add to an evangelist’s number of spells known, but not to his number of spells per day.

Orisons (Sp)
: Evangelists can cast a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, as noted on the table below under "Spells Known". These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.

Spells: An evangelist casts divine spells which are drawn from the cleric spell list. His alignment, however, may restrict him from casting certain spells opposed to her moral or ethical beliefs; see chaotic, evil, good, and lawful spells.

An evangelist knows a number of spells based on the Spells Known table below. An evangelist does not need to choose spells in advance, but simply perform the necessay incantaion.

To prepare or cast a spell, an evangelist must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against an evangelist's spell is 10 + the spell level + the evangelist's Charisma modifier.

Like other spellcasters, an evangelist can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. His base daily spell allotment is given on the table below. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Charisma score (see the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game).

Evangelists meditate or pray for their spells. Each evangelist must choose a time when he must spend 1 hour each day in quiet contemplation or supplication to regain his daily allotment of spells. An evangelist may cast any spell on the priest spell list, provided that he can cast spells of that level.

Author's Note: An Alternate Class based on a class in Dragon 311. This originally started as a modification of the Evangelist in Dragon to make it more on par with the Favored Soul. However, when PF arrived, it was time to clean it up again.
