Warlock

There are those who are so desperate for power that they will make agreements with the very powers of Hell itself. Those who have entered into such infernal pacts are known as warlocks. These people have sold their souls to Asmodeus and other archdevils in exchange for power. Why the Dukes of Hell grant such power is unknown, but it is believed that they do so as part of some convaluted and obscure plan.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Warlocks are proficient with all simple weapons, light armor, and medium armor.

Armored Caster (Ex): Warlocks are trained to ignored the arcane casting penalties of certain types of armor. At 1st level they are able to cast warlock spells with no chance of spell failure while wearing light armor. At 6th level they also ignore the penalties from medium armor. Warlock still have regular spell failure chances when using shields or wearing heavy armor.

Cantrips (Su): A warlock can cast any 0 level spells she knows an unlimited number of times per day.

Hellfire (Sp): One of the first abilities that a warlock learns when she makes her pact is to channel hellfire. Hellfire is channeled as a ray of baleful energy that deals various amounts of energy. Hellfire is a ray with a range of 60 ft with no range increment. It is a ranged touch attack that affects a single target and provides no saving throw. The attack does 1d6 fire damage at 1st level and increase in power as the warlock increases in level. At third level the damage increases to 2d6 fire damage and increases by 1d6 every two levels afterward. This ability can be used 3 + the warlock’s Cha modifier number of times per day.

Infernal Companion (Su): At 1st level the warlock can summon an infernal companion. The warlock can summon a lawful evil outsider with a number of Hit Dice equal to or lower than the warlock’s class level to a maximum of 10 HD.

Spells: A warlock can cast spells drawn from the warlock spell list at the end of this entry. She can cast any spells that she knows without preparing it ahead of time. To learn or cast a spell the warlock must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell’s level. The saving throw difficulty for a warlock’s spells is 10 + the spell level + the walock’s Cha modifier.

Like other spell casters the warlock can only cast a certain number of spells per day. Her base spell allotment is given below. In addition she receives bonus spells if she has a high Charisma score. The warlock’s spell selection is more limited than other spell casters. She begins play knowing four 0-level spells and 2 1st level spell. As she increases in levels she gains new spells as indicated on the spells known table. Unlike spells per day, this number is no affected by a high Charisma score. A warlock need not prepare her spells in advance. She can cast any spell she knows at any time assuming she has not used her spell allotment for the day.

Starting at 5th level and every three levels after the warlock may choose to replace any spell she knows with a new spell. The spell must be of the same level as the one being replaced and must be at least one level lower than the highest level spell that she can cast. She must decide to swap spells at the same time she gains new spells for that level.
