Gnomish Punt Club

Punto Waybiddle swung with all his might, upon impact the little club let out a thundering C-C-C-CRAACK!. Four psionic balls of force erupted from the impact site onto the gnoll's knee, sending both combatant's, Gnome, and knoll, flying in opposite directions.

Aura: faint enchantment; CL 12th
Slot: weapon; Price: 7,000 gp; Weight: 3 lbs.

Roughly 2 feet in length, this little wooden club has a secret hidden within that will surprise any enemy, and wielder.

The punt club is a special weapon designed, and enchanted by a Psionic traveler that had befriended a gnome visiting the southern region.

Once a critical hit is activated while striking with this weapon, a spell is released that erupts 4 psionic balls of explosive force upon the impact site. The balls of energy deal 4d6 points of damage, and then release a secondary spell upon the wielder of the item; making the wielder immune to all blunt, falling, and force damage that could possibly be caused while being thrown back (see below) from the explosive impact. The effects of the secondary spell lasts until the club stops moving, or 2 rounds, whichever comes first.

If said wielder is thrown from a cliff from the impact, subtract immune distance from fall height. Cave-in's act normally.

Once the force of the spell is expelled, both parties are thrown back from the impact site at a distance of 4d10 feet. All parties thrown back except the wielder can make a Reflex save for half damage from the throwback.

While wielding the Punt Club, all critical hit rolls are automatically confirmed (This does not apply to instant death effects.). The "Punt" aspect of the weapon can only be used once per day, and only after resting for at least 5 hours, or meditating 4 hours. (Gnomes are always on the move...)

Author's Note: This item is meant to enhance the fighting ability of smaller races at lower levels. Perhaps you have a level 3 gnome that jumped into a game at the last second of this session, full of level 10 classes. this item should help. I welcome feedback, so please let me know what you think of me spellllking, and of the design of the item.
