Candle Caster

Candle Casters, spell chandlers or wax wizards are specialists that love the beauty of candles and spend their time fashioning candles, both magical and mundane. The spells stored within are release when the candles are lit and the wax melts.

Role: Candle Casters create expendable items much easier than most other classes. Most adventurers know that and will bring them into the fold of the party.

Alignment: Any alignment, though creating candles requires patience, more than most chaotic individuals have.

Hit Die: d6

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: No weapons or armor proficiency gained.

Spells Per Day: When becoming a Candle Caster, you may add its levels to a previous spell casting class for purposes of gaining spells per day.

Scribe Candle(Su): At first level, the Candle Caster gains the ability to imbue a specially made candle with a spell he knows. This candle cannot have been used before for any other purpose and costs 12.5gp x spell level x caster level. Lighting a candle is a Standard action if magic or if tindertwigs are used, a Full Round action otherwise. When lit, the candle becomes the center of the effect unless it is held, then the holder becomes the center. The candles effect starts on the lighters next turn. The duration of the candle is the same as the duration of the spell, but if the candle is put out, the duration is stored in the candle. Putting out a candle is the same as putting out a torch. Lighting the candle later allows the duration to continue. If the candle is ruined, so is the spell stored inside. Read Magic reveals the spell scribed on the candle.

Bonus Feat: At 2nd and 4th level, you gain a bonus metamagic feat. This feat can only be used in scribed candles. The level adjustment for this metamagic feat is reduced by one.

Improved Throw (Ex): When throwing objects in melee, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity and gains +10' more to range.

Continual Beacon (Su): At 3rd level, candles you light cannot be put out unless comletely doused.

Radiant Beacon (Su): At 3rd level, when scribing candles, you may add 2 to the spell level and the candle becomes 'Radiant'. Radiant candles have a 5' radius for the magical effects and the light radius is doubled.

Fear the Flame (Ex): At 3rd level, fighting with a lit, scribed candle becomes a melee touch attack. The candle deals D6 fire damage, +1 per level of the spell scribed, critical 20 x2.

Ignite (Su): At 4th level, any readily flammable, unattended object within 30' can be ignited as a Standard unless held, then it is a Swift action.

Secret Flame (Su): At 4th level, any scribed candle you light can burn as a normal candle, but does with a permanent duration. If you are within its glow, you may cause the spell stored within to begin, its affect starting immediatly.

Candle Master (Su):yle="font-weight: normal;"> At 4th level, if within the glow of a scribed candle, you are considered the 'holder' if desired. No more than 3 candles can be 'held' this way. Spending a skill point into Candle Master increases this amount by 1. The highest level caster beats out all others.

Flames Eye (Su): At 5th level, you gain the ability to make a special candle that glows in certain situations. The candle is considered 1st level and burns for 1 hour for every 25gp spent in to its creation. You may have it change its glow color, intensity, consistency and smell if one of the following come within its glow. Any, Lawful, Chaotic, Good, Evil, Arcane caster, Divine caster, psionic active, recently teleported, invisible or shapechenged. You must choose only one of the above that the candle can detect.

Twin Flame: You gain the Two Weapon Fighting Feat when wieldin a lit, scribed candle in each hand. If both candles hit the same target, the target takes an additional d6 fire damage and is aflame.

Author's Note: A 'remake' of the Candle Caster from Tome and BGlood. I like 5 level prestige classes for classes just like this. Nothing ground breaking but different enough to be prestige.
