Dimensional Adept

While few Wizards are wont to admit it, mages do tend to have an affinity for certain types of magic and some are particularly talented with individual spells. Dimensional Adepts are one such sort of mage. Upon discovering teleportation, these wizards find their lot in life. Often seeking training among rogues, shadow dancers or arcane tricksters dimensional adepts become a dervish on the battlefield. They use their teleportation affinity to skirmish about delivering painful strikes one moment and reappearing in the distance the next.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Dimensional Adepts gain no additional proficiency with any weapon or armor.

Spells: When an indicated dimensional adept level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in any one spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain other benefit its a character of that class would have gained. This essentially means that he adds the level of dimensional adept to the level of whatever other spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day, spells known, and caster level accordingly. If a character had more than one spellcasting class class before he became a dimensional adept, he must decide to which class he adds each level of dimensional adept for the purpose of determining spells per day.

Abundant Step (Su): At 1st level, a dimensional adept can slip magically between spaces, as if using the spell dimension door. Using this ability is a move action that can be used a number of times per day equal to his level plus intellect modifier. His caster level for this effect is equal to his regular caster level. He cannot take other creatures with him when he uses this ability.

Bonus Feats: At 1st, 4th, and 7th level, a dimensional adept gains a bonus feat. At 1st level this is the Dimensional Agility feat, at 4th it is Dimensional Assault and at 7th it is Dimensional Dervish. These bonus feats are in addition to the feats that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. The dimensional adept is not limited when choosing those feats.

Sneak Attack: Gained at the levels in the chart, this ability otherwise functions exactly as the rogue ability of the same name.

Evasion: Gained at 2nd level, this ability otherwise functions exactly as the rogue ability of the same name. Should the dimensional adept already have Evasion, he instead gains Improved Evasion.

Uncanny Dodge: Gained at 3rd level, this ability otherwise functions exactly as the rogue ability of the same name. Should the dimensional adept already have Uncanny Dodge, he instead gains Improve Uncanny Dodge.

Dimensional Sidestep (Su): Once per round, when attacked, the dimensional adept may spend one of his Abundant Step uses or sacrificing a Dimension Door spell to avoid being hit by one melee or ranged attack. The dimensional adept may move up to 5ft per class level when sidesteping this way.

Improved Evasion: Gained at 6th level, this ability otherwise functions exactly as the rogue ability of the same name.

Improved Uncanny Dodge: Gained at 8th level, this ability otherwise functions exactly as the rogue ability of the same name. Should the dimensional adept already have Improved Uncanny Dodge from another class, he adds the levels of dimensional adept to determine the effective level of rogue needed to be flanked.

Dimensional Parry (Su): After successfully using Dimensional Sidestep, the dimensional adept may make an attack of opportunity against the foe that attacked him, assuming the dimensional adept is still within melee range after taking the movement.

Dimensional Appogee (Ex): When using Abundant Step the dimensional adept may now bring along others, though each additional creature brough reduces the maximum distance by a proportionate amount. Thus a 5th level Wizard, 10th level dimensional adept could teleport himself and one subject up to 500 feet, or himself and two subjects 330 feet, and so on. Furthermore, he may grapple foes and teleport with them, though they are allowed a will save to resist the movement.

When using Dimensional Dervish the dimensional adept may now grapple, along with other combat options as part of the movement.

When the dimensional adept successfully avoids an effect using Improved Evasion, he may teleport up to 5 ft. per class level by spending one use of his Abundant Step ability or sacrificing a Dimension Door spell.

Author's Note: The Ultimate Combat Guide, recently released by Paizo, offered a new chain of feats for characters that presented an option for dimensional skirmishing. For those players wishing to create a "Nightcrawler" character, the downside was the extrememly high level it took to obtain all the feat necessary to pull off this chain. With monks not gaining Abundant Step till level 12, and viable wizards (read: arcane tricksters) not getting dimension door till the same level, most players could expect this tactic to see play till 17th level. This class provides an option for players who want to see this combo in realistic play levels.**In addition I've made some edits based on playtesting and criticism.**
