Goblin

Goblins are greedy little buggers that are willing to do almost anything for profit. They also have a great interest in mechanical and alchemical processes.

Physical Description: Goblins are small, wiry humanoids that stand roughly three feet tall. Their hair tends towards dark colors like blacks and browns, and their skin is universally green. Goblins have shifty yellow eyes and a large toothy grin that seems locked into a perpetual grin, or sneer.

Society: Goblins live in a plutocracy ruled by a series of merchant princes. A goblin's place in society is determined by how much wealth they have accumulated. This leads goblins to engage in many schemes to increase their own personal wealth, and thus their social standing. Many of these schemes actually turn out to be ill conceived and hare-brained; these schemes are usually doomed from the start. Other goblins are willing to take the risk of becoming adventurers in hopes of making a big score and becoming one of the merchant princes.

Relations: Goblins cultivate good relations with all other races whom they view as potential customers and marks. On the other hand, all other races are suspicious of goblins; because they know that they are viewed as potential customers and marks. Elves particularly dislike goblins because goblins have no respect for nature, particularly if it gets in the way of profit.

Alignment and Religion: While goblins are not evil per se, they definitely trend towards neutrality and evil. They are willing to engage in shady and underhanded business practices to get ahead. Goblins will use slavery, smuggling, poaching, and deforestation to earn a profit and see absolutely nothing wrong with it. They have little use for religion and worship gods of wealth and taking advantage of others when they do participate in religion.

Goblin Racial Traits

+2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom: Goblins are quick and quite intelligent but they lack common sense.

Fearless: Goblins gain a +2 racial bonus to all saving throws against fear effects.

Merchant Blooded: Goblins receive a +2 bonus to Appraise, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive checks.
