Shadow Minotaur
The Shadow Minotaurs are huge, bestial creatures who live in the remote corners of the world.
From the savage jungles to the harsh bitter arctic regions. Shadow minotaurs broke off from the blood thirsty brutal minotaur race and the goddess Lamatshu many generations ago. They are smarter and more civilized than their larger cousins and have developed a complex set of rituals that honor Erastil, "Old deadeye", to represent their differences. At heart many shadow minotaurs are hunters, but the hunting of intelligent humanoids is a part of their past that they wish to forget. It's still hard for many folks to see shadow minotaurs as being different as they are still larger and stronger than many of the common races.
Shadow Minotaur Racial Traits
+2 Strength, -2 CharismaMedium Size
30 ft. Base Speed
Humanoid Type: Shadow minotaurs are Humanoid not Monstrous Humanoid and are therefor affected by spells like Hold Person or Charm Person.
Medium: As Medium Creatures, shadow minotaurs have no special bonuses or penalties. Shadow Minotaurs still range from 6 to 7 feet tall and from 250 to 400 lbs with the females tending towards the lower end.
Hulking Brute: Shadow minotaurs have such an impressive stature that they are treated as large creatures for purposes of Combat Maneuver Defense, but not for Combat Maneuver Bonus. Shadow minotaurs are also considered to be Large when determining special attacks based on size (such as grab or swallow whole). In addition a shadow minotaur's carrying capacity is increased by one and a half times. For example, with an 18 Str a shadow minotaur's light load would be 150 lbs instead of 100 lbs.
Natural Attack: A minotaur may use his horns as natural weapons to make gore attacks, dealing 1d6 points of damage. If fighting without a weapon, a shadow minotaur uses his horns as a primary attack, adding 1-1/2 times his Strength bonus to damage. If armed with a weapon, he can use his horns or weapon, as he chooses. When making a full attack, a shadow minotaur uses the weapon as his primary attack along with the horns as a natural secondary attack (at -5 penalty and half Str damage). In addition, all of a shadow minotaur's attacks made with melee weapons and unarmed strikes are made as if he was two-weapon fighting. A shadow minotaur's natural attacks are treated as light, off-hand weapons for determining the penalty to your other attacks. Feats such as Two-Weapon Fighting and Multiattack can reduce these penalties. If the shadow minotaur gets extra attacks by virtue of a base attack bonus of +6 or higher, he gets them only with his manufactured weapons not his horns.
Powerful Charge: If a shadow minotaur charges, his gore attack deals 2d6 damage, plus 1 1/2 times his Strength modifier.
Weapon Familiarity: Shadow minotaurs receive the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat for the greatbow and composite greatbow (Complete Warrior pg 156) as a bonus feat. If using core books only then they get the Longbow and Composite Longbow.
Languages: Shadow minotaurs begin play speaking Common. Shadow minotaurs with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Giant, Elven, Goblin, Orc.
