Half-Ogre

Half-Ogres are the decendants of those who survived the capture and vile mating rituals of the Ogres. The taint of Ogre seed can last for many generations, creating Half-Ogre progeny down the line. Half-Ogres themselves often lead pitiful lives. Among their giant bretheren, they are considered weak, often used as slaves or worse. Among the more "civilized" races, Half-Ogres recieve even more scorn than Half-Orcs, as most people make little distiction between Ogres and their kin. This bigotry, combined with the Half-Ogre's reduced intellegence and awkward stature, means that many do not survive to adulthood, and those that do are often blamed for any strange crimes in the area. However, this lifetime of scorn and racial hatred often leads Half-Ogres to join adventuring groups, whose members are often more tolerant of racial mix and circumstance. Half-Ogres make excellent fighters and barbarians, where their size and durability are an asset. Their oversized stature and low intellegence make them poor rogues and wizards.

Half-Ogre Racial Traits

Strength +2, Constitution +2, Intelligence -2

Medium Size (see below)

35 ft. Base Speed: Half-Ogres have a base speed of 25 ft. in Medium or Heavy Armor.

Oversized Medium: Half Ogres are Medium sized creatures, though at the Large end of the scale. As a result, they can wield Large weapons and Equipment without penalty. However, due to their medium size, they do not gain additional reach with Large, Non-Reach Weapons. (In other words, a Half-Ogre wielding a Large Longsword does not have reach.)

Natural Armor: Half-Ogres have thick, resilient skin and gain a +2 Natural Bonus to their Armor Class.

Darkvision: Half-Ogres have Darkvision to 60'. Fearsome Visage: Half-Ogres are monsterous-looking and gain a +2 Bonus to Intimidate. This same appearance gives them a -2 Penalty to all Diplomacy tests.

Languages: Half-Orges start the game speaking Common and Giant. Half-Ogres with an intellegence bonus may take the following as Bonus Languages: Orc, Goblin, and Gnoll.

Author's Note: This is my attempt to make a more balanced Half-Ogre race for Pathfinder. The +2 STR AND CON are pretty powerful, especially in close combat characters. My original playtest gave them an additional -2 CHA, but that took them out of the "2 stats at +2, 1 stat at -1" realm that defined most other PF races. Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think. Good luck.
