Shi-Lan

They look like humans in every way, shape and form. Sadly, when a race that is not human gives birth to a Shi-Lan, it is cause for excitement or divorce.

Immortal Bond (Su): The Shi-Lan, though not called that except by learned sages, are a lucky race. They are immortal, hard to kill and have all the advantages of appearing human. The first time a Shi-Lan is 'killed' in combat, he recovers 1 hit point per minute until he is at 0, then gains consciousness. That form becomes his form forever. The Shi-Lan cannot die from wounds, healing at 1 hit point each minute when below half hit points, unless total annhilation is done to the body, or his head is removed.

Every HD gained causes the uncontrollable desire to decapitate another Shi-Lan and if one isnt nearby, they must wander until they find one. The act of decapitation is powerful for Shi-Lan, for it transfers some of the victim to themselves. A Shi-Lan gains a class feature from the victim, as if he himself had it. If the victim is a caster, you may gain the ability to cast a single spell the victim had, once per day as a Spell-Like ability. If a non Shi-Lan decapitates a Shi-Lan, they earn double the exp that kill would normally be worth.

Sadly, this all comes with a cost, however minor it may seem to some. The Shi-Lan do not age, suffering none of the advantages nor disadvantages of time. Also, in the event of actual death, they cannot be brought back to life short of a Wish or Miracle. Even so, they remain alive for a mere day per HD and do not grant nor gain any abilities upon decapitation.

Languages: A shi-lan gains languages as the race of its parents.

Author's Note: Back in the day, one of my players wanted to play a Highlander, so I whipped this up. Had it forever but now its time to share.
