Threatening Target
If a man is faced with a particularly threatening foe in a group, he will immediately strike at that foe. If a beast is faced with such a foe, it will avoid that enemy in hopes that it will not attack either.
School illusion; Level sorcerer/wizard 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range 100 ft.
Target/Effect/Area 1 allied creature
Duration 1 round/caster level
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes
The caster must cast this spell on a target friendly to her.
Intelligent enemies (Int score of 3 or higher) must make a Will save every turn the spell is in effect. Those that fail the save will be unable to attack anything other than the spell's target.
Enemies with an Int score of less than 3 that fail their saves will be unable to attack the spell's target.
Author's Note: I wanted to scale up the difficulty of my encounters, but the ability of monsters to attack less armored players sometimes makes that difficult. A spell that allows the players to help each other control who the monsters attack allowed me to make monsters that hit harder.
