Mutable Force II
The powdered garnet swirls about in your hand and assumes the form of a translucent yellow lump of force that almost resembles a wad of fresh clay.
School evocation [force]; Level sorcerer/wizard 6
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (powdered precious metals or gems worth 100 gp)
Range 0 ft.
Effect Object of force up to a 5 ft. cube
Duration 1 round / level
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance see text
This spell brings into existence a volume of force that the caster can shape to resemble any simple object that can fit into a 5 ft. cube. The simple object can not have any moving parts or any intricate textures, but it can be as rigid or as malleable as the caster desires. You can also create or a more complex object that can fit into a 2 ft. cube. The complex object can have one or two moving parts, like a pulley, or intricate textures, like a set of lockpicks, but it cannot have both properties, or any complex inner workings, like a clockwork object or a lock. The object is weightless but can be anchored to a floor, wall, or ceiling, requiring a DC 21 Strength check to remove.
During the duration of the spell, the caster can change the shape of the force object on his turn as a free action. For example, you could create a force lockpick to open a door. If that did not work after a minute, the caster could take a free action to change the force into the shape of a battering ram to break the door down. This battering ram would remain until the spell expires or until the caster uses a free action to change the shape again. The caster must hold the force object to change its shape, but otherwise can leave the object unattended for the duration of the spell. If the object is used to strike a creature, treat it as up to a one-handed improvised weapon (-4 penalty to hit) which deals 1d8 damage plus your Strength bonus (the caster can choose between bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage). If thrown it has a range increment of 20 ft.. Using the force object as a weapon dispels the spell immediately following the first time it hits an opponent as a melee weapon, or immediately after being used as a range weapon. If this force weapon fails to overcome a creature’s spell resistance, the spell ends and has no effect on the creature. The caster can also create an object that fires projectiles (like a bow, crossbow, or sling) without cancelling the spell, but the improvised weapon penalty still applies. Likewise, the force object can be used to make up to a large shield that bestows a +2 shield bonus (not requiring shield proficiency), but the spell ends after the first time the wielder is successfully hit. Armor cannot be made with this spell.
The force object can be destroyed by any effect that can destroy a wall of force. The object can be made permanent by way of a permanency spell, but the object’s shape cannot be altered afterward.
