Warp Saber

A favored weapon of protean lords, this oddly balanced sword has an amorphous blade that constantly changes shape and color. No amount of training or discipline will allow one to master its strangeness. Only a being of chaos can unlock its true potential.

Type: Varies (see below)

Name Cost Dmg (S) Dmg (M) Critical Range Weight Type
Warp Saber
1000 gp 1d4/1d8/1d20 1d4/1d8/1d20 x3 (special)
- 3 lbs. Piercing/Slashing

Special: One rare occasions when a protean wishes to kill or destroy something, they rely on a warp saber. The blade counts as a two-handed exotic weapon to any lawful wielder, a martial weapon to neutral wielders, and a simple weapon to chaotic wielders. It does piercing and slashing damage. Because of the unpredictable nature of its ever-changing shape, it does not crit/threat on a natural 20, but a natural unmodified 13. It deals 1d4 damage when used by a lawful character, 1d8 for neutral characters, and 1d20 for chaotic users.

The price of this weapon of pure chaos is difficult to set or appraise, but but a plain, non-masterwork warp blade can sometimes be bought for 1000gp. Warp sabers are always considered chaotically aligned.
