Red Gaols Prison

The Read Goals Prison is a highly secured building where offenders are kept. The prison was named Red Goals by the inhabitants of the city. Some imply that the prison was named the Red Gaols because of it red roof; others because many have died in their blood-soaked halls.

The Read Goals Prison is located in the Crown sector of Westcrown. The prison was built close to a cliff. The west wall is 10 feet close to the cliff and the north and east walls are about 100 feet close. The only access to the prison is by a large and heavy metallic gate on the south wall.

The prison is well guarded. Ten guards are posted in different places (Guard, GMG p. 260) and two officers are overseeing their work (Guard Officer, GMG p. 261). No one has escaped the prison and lived to tell the story. There are also two turnkeys (Turnkey, GMG p. 271) that are watching the prisoners. One is working on the first floor and one on the second. All cells are locked by "good" quality locks (Disable Device DC 30). Each turnkey has his own set of keys.

The prison is managed by the knight Sir Enrick Drakos (Knight, GMG p. 289). He keeps tracks of every sentence and release, and he also records all executions. The prison has some dark secrets. Sir Enrick is not aware that instead of being executed, some prisoners are sent to a secret dungeon under the prison where they are sold as slaves. Prisoners sent to the slave market have no family, therefore, no risk that their bodies should be requested for funerals.

The slave market is managed by the feared vampire Lady Avildya Hyre (Vampire, Bestiary p. 270). The torturer and executioner Jonny the Racker (Torturer, GMG p. 271) brings her prisoners to be sold. The cells in the dungeon are private pantries for the vampire before the prisoners are sold. All cells are locked with "good" quality locks (Disable Device DC 30), and the keys are in Lady Avildya's possession.

The slave market is accessible by a hidden entry in the cliff. To access the slave market, the buyers are using small boats. A dimension door is located near the water level and another one is located inside the dungeons. The magical door near the water gives access to the cliff's hidden entry and the one in the dungeons returns to the water.
