DESCRIPTION
Nevas stands at the short stature of only 5'4". When he has sized up new acquaintances he appears fully cloaked although his belt gleams brightly. He has fair skin and long auburn hair. Most often, when meeting people he does not know, his bow is out.PERSONALITY
Nevas is cautious, always cautious. His sojourn in the wild has made him weary of strangers. Once he trusts a person, he aids and assists them to the death.BACKGROUND
One hundred and fifty years ago, in a palatial tree-manse near the silver city of Nothlaren, with the full moon of Thule shimmering off the waters of the Lake of Stars, Prince Nevas Moonbow was born, sixth son to Princess Elowyn and Prince Yaven Moonbow, crown prince of Nothlaren. Unfortunately, the strain on her body was too much for Princess Elowyn, and she died the next day.The sages and stargazers of Nothlaren praised Aytha for the blessings of six children to the Moonbow line, all capable strong sons to lead the Elves through difficult ages of human strife. But for Nevas, being sixth and just another prized, spoiled son was not enough. His father was harsh with him, possibly resentful of Elowyn's death. It always seemed to Nevas that too much was being asked of him, that he could never live up to the demands of his father. So he decided early on to disregard what his father thought and take up his own ambitions and mischeivous pusuits.
Growing up, he often visited Nothlaren at night and mixed in with the common elves. He found fun in pranks and destructive acts designed for his amusement alone. Soon, the jokes were not enough. He needed to cause true chaos in the city. He began a sort of midnight crusade to "ridicule" the ruling family and expose all sorts of dirty secrets of the Moonbow household. His campaign led him to steal from the wealthy and expose their lifestyle to the poor, fomenting rebellion and distrust of the nobility. It was these deeds that earned him the nickname "The Velvet Weasel" for the signature way he presented his cause.
Finally, during a daring escapade which led the Nothlaren city guards on a chase throughout the city, Nevas was caught.
Due to Nothlaren law which prohibits prosecution of nobility except by permission of the king, Nevas was spared a commoner's sentence. Instead, it seemed to Nevas, his father committed his first true act of love. Prince Yaven requested banishment through the White Gate.
Built as a "kinder, gentler" punishment, the White Gate is a gate to random locations throughout Thule. Ceremoniously, a person sentenced to pass through the White Gate is never allowed to return to Nothlaren although they may still keep their title.
The day came and Nevas stepped upon the platform on the shores of the Lake of Stars. He took one look at his father, hung his head in the only shame he ever felt, and stepped through the gate. He found himself on the northern side of Thule where the Mountains of White Flame meet the Crescent Mountains. He had many weeks of struggle and survival to make his way back to civilization. It was in those weeks that Nevas came to terms with his father's feelings, and finally decided to stop living to oppose something and make something of his own. His life, a new life, lay before him.
In time, he managed to reach Verend and offer his services as a guide to prospectors and treasure seekers. His experience and competence scouting for various adventuring parties received the notice of the King of Cirkain and so his career as an aid to the king had begun.
