An open pit in the middle of the corridor presents a problem to cross. An even bigger problem if characters approach the pit to seek solutions.

Effects

Effect 20-ft.-deep pit (2d6 falling damage); DC 20 Reflex avoids; multiple targets (all targets in a 5 ft x 10 ft. area)

The perception DC indicates the required roll to discover the disable mechanism; the pit is clearly visible. The area in front of the pit (5' long and 10' wide) is trapped so that any pressure on it activates the trap. The area activated folds down and dumps anyone standing on it into the pit for falling damage. One round after this, a sliding horizontal portcullis 5 ft. above the floor of the pit covers the entire pit area. The pit then starts to fill with water from holes in the bottom. The water fills the pit until it is 5 ft. from the pit ledge (just above the portcullis) and stays for 10 minutes. After that time, the water recedes and the trap is completely reset.
